This should give you back your old bookmarks (if you, like me, have about 7000 bookmarks you would hate to lose) Close all instances of chrome again, and find your way back to C:\Users\"UserName"\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data -> find the 'default' folder -> delete any existing 'bookmarks' and 'bookmarks.bak' files there, and copy paste the ones from your backup (located in the default folder as well) straight over into the folder.Start a fresh chrome tab - to see if it resolved the issue.Close all instances of chrome, delete the original folder (might have to restart as well here, haven't tested).Make a backup of the user data (copy+paste the folder to your desktop).Hijacking this brilliant comment to say: there's a way to KEEP BOOKMARKS if you haven't synced your google account in a while.
